Spa 2004

Below are a few pictures from the 2004 Le Mans Endurance Series 1000 kms round at Spa, and some of the other races held at the meeting.

We've previously been to the F1 Grand Prix every year between 1986 and 2002, but this year decided to try something else. An entry fee of 25 Euros, "access (almost) all areas", and races like LMES, British F3, Classic Endurance Racing Formula Palmer Audi, FX Sport, and UK Formula Ford was a bargain. The sound and sight of all the Classical Endurance cars in the paddock on Friday morning was worth the whole trip !!!!

Another thing which was quite unusual compared to F1, was they really made you feel welcome to the track, and took their time to try to make sure you understood what to do and where to go.

We've previously had a lot of fun with the "Ardennes sense of humour" with regards to the weather. This year it was a little unusual with incredibly warm weather between Wednesday and Friday. Walking at the track in dustclouds not seen since the classical spaghetti westerns, was quite unusual. Somewhere between midnight and 1 in the morning, the night between Friday and Saturday, it all changed, and we had a tidal wave the rest of the night. The rest of the weekend was a lot colder with the occasional shower.
