This years Copenhagen Blues Festival started with a reception at Husets Café on Wednesday September 24th and a solo-concert with Hans Knudsen.
On Friday September 26th there was a double concert in Amager Bio. The first band on stage was Mike Andersen Band. I'd never heard of them before, but as they're still pretty young, there's no doubt we'll hear a lot about them in the future. The concert was, to put it mildly, great !! - Mike Andersen was quite deservedly elected "Årets danske bluesnavn 2003" (Danish Blues Name of the year), and received the price after the show. They have released a CD which I highly recommend. No more talking, go to a concert, get the CD and have a look at their web-site !!
The second band was Otis Grand and the Big Blues Band. Another band I'm afraid I'd never heard of before either, and another concert I'll never forget !! - Have a look at their web-site as well.
At the end of the performance, they invited Mike Andersen Band back on stage. The now 12 people on stage, played at full speed for 15 minutes, and Mike Andersen even broke a string.
I'd planned to go to a few of Saturday concerts, but due to a throatproblem, I had to cancel :-(
